The facta est lux gallery

These pages contain a sample of some of my work behind the camera and in the darkroom. I expect to change some images, add new ones, and perhaps even keep some around. Scan quality is kept rather low to keep file sizes and load times small; unfortunately, a lot of detail is often lost.
I use a variety of equipment and prefer black and white over color. Of late, my preferred cameras are a Leica M6 with 21, 35, 50, and 90mm lenses and a Hasselblad 500C/M with 60mm, 80mm, and 150mm lenses. For color travel/exploration photos, I prefer to use a small, easily pocketable camera. This is usually my trusty Olympus XA, although I often use a Yashica T4 as well.
4x5 inch and 6x6 cm negatives are a joy to print with and I often wish I was less lazy and would carry those cameras around more. In the darkroom, I stick to black and white. I primarily use three emulsions: T-Max 100, Tech Pan, and Tri-X developed in T-Max, Technidol LC, and HC-110 developers, respectively. I've had good results with Ilford and Agfa emulsions but never went to the trouble of performing the sensitometric tests, so I find myself using them with a degree of uncertainty. Not having much time to play around in the darkroom, I stick to Zone VI Brilliant (now Brilliant II) bromide paper and Zone VI paper developer. I selenium tone any print that I plan to keep around.
